Target Groups

Direct beneficiaries:

  • The direct beneficiaries include 1,388 people in 04 project villages (Tham Phe, Ban Hang, Huoi Bac và Pa Khôm):
    • 40 key community members,
    • 04 cooperative groups,
    • 20 project village Heads, and
    • 12 local authorities at district and communal levels in the project area.

Indirect beneficiaries:

  • The remaining population of two project communes (approximately 12,130 people).

Project Goal:

The community development in the two project communes is sustainable and based on the needs of the local population.

Project Objective:

The people of Muong Kim and Pha Mu communes develop their own solutions for local challenges and implement them successfully together with political decision-makers.

Indicators of the objective:

  1. Regular exchanges between the villagers and the local authorities take place in four project villages, where development needs and solutions are discussed.
  2. Under the facilitation of 40 trained key community members and with the expertise of 30 other small farmers, a minimum of 16 small development projects planned and implemented in a participatory way.

Main project activities

  • Introductory workshops at district and village levels.
  • Trainings for 40 key community members on CM related topics.
  • Village meetings for creating community profiles and ranking priorities.
  • Thematic village meetings on Vietnamese laws/policies, sustainable agriculture related topics…
  • Dialogues between local people and authorities.
  • Village meetings to establish Farmers Collective Groups – FCGs.
  • Study tour to successful sustainable agriculture model to enable experience exchange for 36 farmers.
  • Village meetings to share the lessons learnt of the study tour and knowledge/skills gained in trainings provided by the project.
  • Trainings for FCGs members on relevant topics.
  • Products promotion activities for the FCGs (joining in provincial/district agricultural public exhibition), where farmers bring their goods to advertise their brand and sell it to the visitors.
  • Village meetings for approval of small-scale development project proposals.
  • Implementing small-scale development projects of villagers: at least 16 small-scale development projects of CBGs and FCGs.
  • Evaluation meetings on the implementation process of small-scale development projects.
  • Good practices sharing meetings (at district) on experiences of small-scale development projects of CBGs and FCGs from the project villages.
  • CM training (at district) for the heads of other 20 non-project villages to learnt CM advantages and procedure for 35 participants including local authorities and heads of villages of Muong Kim and Pha Mu communes.
  • Half-year review meetings of local Project Management Board and DWC.
  • Final review/evaluation meeting of the project results.
  • Regular monitoring by DWC staff.
  • Project audits (annually).
