About
The Centre for Promoting Development for Women and Children (DWC) is a non-profit organization established in 2003 according to Decision No 232/QD-KHVN on 21 July 2003 of "Vietnam Association for Promoting Education" (VAPE), now known as "Vietnam Association for Learning Promotion" (VALP). The overall objective of DWC is to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life for poor people, especially poor women and children in Vietnam.
Vision: DWC envisions a Vietnam without poverty where women and children enjoy equal rights and participate in all relevant processes of political, economic, cultural, and social life.
Mission: Our mission is to improve the quality of life for poor people, especially women and children through research, education, and training, and to facilitate sustainable community development projects and programs.
Guiding principles of DWC:

- Respect for community cultural and social diversity;
- Maximizing internal resources in communities, creating community ownership towards sustainable community development;

Approaches of DWC: community-based, assets-based, and right-based.
- Community-based: Local people make decisions and directly participate in all steps of the project cycle (identifying needs, designing projects, implementing and monitoring projects to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability, evaluating a project to draw lessons learned).
- Assets-based: People mobilize their internal resources, contribute maximum to the development process, and create community ownership towards sustainable development.
- Right-based: Building capacity (skills and methods) for local authorities to work efficiently in order to fulfill their obligations and to meet the rights of people. Building capacity for local people, especially on laws so that they understand their duties and exercise their rights legally.
Main focuses:
- Promoting self-managed communities, facilitating sustainable development projects to improve the quality of life for local people, especially poor women and children;
- Promoting the implementation of women's rights and gender equality;
- Promoting the implementation of child rights and facilitating a friendly learning environment in school towards comprehensive development of students;
- Increasing community awareness on relevant laws and policies to promote the rule of laws;
- Making comments on policies and programs of relevant Ministries/Branches and the United Nations organizations to promote the implementation of woman rights and child rights;
- Providing consultancy services related to participatory project management (training on capacity building, evaluating development projects, organizing and facilitating workshops...).
