Target Groups
Direct beneficiaries:
- 5,580 people and local authorities (2,750 female and 2.850 male)
- 5,580 people (2,740 female - 49,1%) of the 06 project villages and the Glass Noodle Thanh Minh Cooperative (TMC) will benefit from awareness raising, capacity building activities and small grants for climate-resilient agriculture models and in-field infrastructure.
- 20 local authorities and agriculture staff benefit from participation at project activities and as members of the local project management board (10 female).
Indirect beneficiaries
- 13,960 people (7,190 female -51% and 6,770 male) of the rest people in 02 project communes.
Project Goal:
Resilience of communities are enhanced through climate adaptative and environmental-friendly agriculture.
Project Objective:
Climate adaptative and environmental-friendly agriculture is strengthened through community management approach.
Indicators of the objective:
- At least 3 climate adaptative models are self-managed by community-based groups headed by at least 40% of women in the 6 target villages.
- The preserved traditional Hat Cau sticky rice seed is cultivated on 100 ha at the end of the project.
- The quality of at least 70% of agricultural products cultivated by CBGs is ensured through the Participatory Guarantee System at the end of the project.
Project Activities
- 01 meeting to introduce the project at district level and establish a local Project Management Board (PMB).
- 06 village meetings to introduce the project and elect 60 key members (50% female).
- 06 village meetings to develop community profiles.
- 06 training courses for 70 members (key group and Thanh Minh cooperative) on the following topics: community management, including facilitation and communication, (financial) planning, monitoring and evaluation of small grants.
- 06 village meetings to select community groups (100 members, 50% female).
- 01 meeting to establish the PGS system at district level and develop an operating mechanism.
- 10 training courses for 110 PGS members (PGS Coordinating Committee, community members, inspectors, cooperative members) on PGS quality standards, monitoring, reporting, and source traceability. Original product, product packaging, logo...
- 08 training courses for 110 members (community groups and cooperatives) on environment-friendly agricultural models and climate change adaptation.
- 01 study tour other provinces to share experience, accelerate mutual learning on climate adaptative models and value chains.
- 01 study tour promoting safe/organic products to increase public acceptance and purchase behavior.
- 02 local product promotion fairs.
- 08 approval meetings for small-grant proposals.
- At least 12 subprojects of community groups are implemented from small grants with a contribution counterpart rate of at least 25%.
- 06 first evaluation meetings at the end of the sub-projects (subsequent evaluation meetings are organized by the villagers).
- 06 farmer-to-farmer exchange visits.
- 12 thematic meetings (supported by experts) to disburse information on relevant laws and state policies, e.g. gender equality, regulations on cooperative groups/cooperatives, food safety and quality standards for agricultural production, especially the PGS.
- 06 thematic meetings (supported by experts) to provide initial inputs on the adverse impact of climate change and contributing factors, the negative impact on chemical fertilizers and pesticides on health and environments, and the importance of waste management.
- 12 dialogues between local authorities and CBGs to discuss local concerns and agree on solutions.
- Mid-term review and end project review.
- Other activities: Monitoring, periodical meeting of the PMB, audit.
