Target Groups
Direct beneficiaries
- 3,080 people (1,600 women/1,480 men) in 18 villages, mainly ethnic Tay, Nung and Dao, benefit from awareness raising on self-management and small-scale development projects.
- 120 key community members, including at least 60 (50%) women, are trained on the application of the community management approach.
- 180 FIG members receive training and coaching on market-oriented production for income generation purposes.
- Approximately 25 people (15 men/10 women), including Women’s Union leaders at district/commune level and communal Government officials, benefit from community management approach via trainings and dialogues with communities.
Indirect beneficiaries
- Approximately 6,200 residents (3,200 women/3,000 men) of the three communes benefit from the small-scale development projects (both small infrastructures and sustainable agriculture models) and awareness raising measures on self-help, gender equality, and community participation strategies.
Project Goal:
Sustainable village development is improved in Bac Kan province by realizing the community management approach.
Project Objective:
Self-management capacity of local community is improved addressing development challenges.
Indicators of the objective:
- By the end of the project, 65 small-scale development projects are successfully self-managed by communities directly concerned (self-managed in terms of planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating; a project is considered successfully managed when its objective is achieved).
- By the end of the project, agricultural models run by Farmers’ interest groups (FIGs) applying CM generate a 15% increased average income for 150 FIG member households.
- By the end of the 2nd project year, 8 FIGs develop into cooperative groups certified by the State.
Project Activities
- 40 community meetings to introduce the project's objectives and activities; establish Community-based Groups (CBGs) and elect 120 community key members; creating community profiles and selecting community priorities.
- 15 training courses for key community members on Community Management; Motivation skills; Small-scale project design; Financial management; Gender and development projects.
- 54 village thematic meetings on relevant laws and policies (such as land law and gender equality law).
- 36 dialogues between local authorities and villagers to discuss solutions for local problems.
- 18 meetings to establish 18 FIGs with 180 members.
- 15 training courses for the FIGs on group management and household economic management; production of bio-fertilizer and herbal insecticide; technical knowledge and skills on common interested agricultural products.
- Conducted 06 training courses for 03 management members of each group of FIGs on Business Planning and Bookkeeping, and Sale promotion (including advertisement and negotiation).
- 01 market research and 01 workshop to share research results.
- 01 baseline data survey.
- 02 study tours at successful businesses.
- 09 approval meetings for community small-grant proposals.
- Implementation of sub-projects (sub-projects) by CBGs, FIGs with a contribution counterpart of at least 25%.
