Target Groups

Direct beneficiaries:

  • 8,000 people in 12 villages, with 90% being ethnic Muong and Dao, benefit from capacity building and small-scale development projects;
  • 120 key community members, including at least 60 (50%) women, are trained on the application of the community development approach;
  • 100 cooperative group members receive training and coaching on market-oriented production for income generation purposes;
  • Approximately 20 people, including Women’s Union leaders and state officials at district and commune level participate in the project’s dialogues and activities.

Indirect beneficiaries:

  • Approximately 15,000 residents of the three communes benefit from the small-scale development projects and capacity building on self-help, gender equality and community participation strategies.

 

Project Goal:

Sustainable village development is improved in Hoa Binh province.

 

Project Objective:

Local development challenges have been selected and solved by local community-based groups

 

Indicators of the objective:

  1. Indicator 1: By the end of the project, at least 60 small-scale development projects are successfully self-managed by local people (self-managed in terms of planning, decision-making, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating; a project is considered successfully managed when its objective is achieved).
  2. Indicator 2: By the end of the project, at least 50% of goods produced by the 12 cooperative groups are jointly sold to traders based on contracts.

 

Project Activities

  1. Project introduction WS at district level and setup Project Management Board (PMB).
  2. 12 Village meetings to introduce project, and to select key community members for attending capacity building activities.
  3. 16 Training courses for 120 key community members on Community management; Financial management; Facilitation skills and methods; Project design based on logical framework; and Gender and development project.
  4. 26 Dialogues between villagers and local authorities at communal levels.
  5. 39 Village meetings on relevant policies and laws, gender issues, collective and safe livelihoods regulations.
  6. 12 Village meetings to create community profile, and to rank priorities.
  7. Implementation of at least 60 small-scale development projects (sub-projects) by CBGs, CGs, and local people.
  8. Setup 12 cooperative groups (100 members – 50% women).
  9. Study tours and market research for cooperative groups.
  10. 08 Training courses for 100 cooperative group (CGs) members on collective regulation, organic vegetables endorsed by PGS, chicken raising with local self-made feed, beekeeping, and newly identified products.
  11. 07 Training courses for CG members on related topics (around 40 members): Business planning, bookkeeping, leadership skills, packing, product traceability application, monitoring PCG.
  12. Support a kiosk to introduce PGS products and sell CGs products at Kim Boi district
  13. Other activities: monthly PMB meetings, regular monitoring trips, 6-monthly audit, mid-term and final project workshop, end project external evaluation…
